We partner with business and community members in our efforts to make Winfield School District 34 an example of excellence in education. One in which STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) is incorporated in the curriculum, preparing our students for an ever-changing world steeped in technology.
We've been handling this differently throughout the pandemic, as we focus on supporting our community through a time of need. We are doing less fundraising to avoid over-burdening families and businesses. Instead, we work to identify and address needs in our community and adapt as needed throughout the year.
We want to support the businesses that have been so supportive of us, and encourage our community to shop local when it's more important than ever. To that end, check back as we adapt throughout the year and find creative ways to support our community. We welcome your ideas - we are stronger together!

Supporting families in need
Students cannot excel in education until their basic needs are first met. Therefore, WEF has started an essential needs fund to help families take care of essential needs - groceries, clothing, medicine, and household items. Collaboration with neighboring school districts, nonprofits, and chambers of commerce has helped us address food insecurity, expand our reach, and opened up new doors to address critical needs. Email us to get involved today. Right now, you can donate a new gift or sponsor a child in need for the holidays or donate to our winter gear exchange.
Supporting essential workers and at-risk community
We've hosted five blood drives at D34, in response to the dire need to boost Winfield's life-saving blood supply. We collected individually packaged snacks, personal care gifts, or small gift cards to NM-CDH healthcare staff - email us to donate today. You can make an appointment for our Giving Tuesday blood drive or donate at the Winfield Versiti Blood Center to help. We also collaborated with creative District 34 families to create two videos for our local healthcare workers, first responders, and staff and residents at our assisted living facilities. We appreciate those working so hard to care for our community!
Supporting school staff
WEF and PTO proudly collaborate to recognize and support the incredible staff at District 34. We fund annual grants to bring innovations to classrooms that are beyond the scope of public school funding. Check out the 2021 grant recipients! During the pandemic, we have funded teacher microphone projection systems for purpose of teaching through masks, summer initiatives, and remote learning supports.
Supporting local businesses and organizations
During the pandemic we've focused less on fundraising and more on working to support those who have been so supportive of us! We shared local business and org. news weekly in our school newsletter, website and social media and offered free “Cook’s Night Out” for local restaurants, encouraging our families to get local take-out with no donation requested. Please see our full list of partners and join our new Winfield Local facebook group which we created to encourage our community to shop local and share local events and happenings!
We are always grateful for direct monetary donations which we will use to fulfill our current goal of supporting our families in need, essential workers, and local organizations, and school staff.
Thanks to the support of our community, WEF and PTO were successfully able to provide funding to launch Winfield Studios, podcast and green screen spaces that have provided innovate and unique learning opportunities for our students. THANK YOU for making a difference!
