Educational Grants

WEF is proud to provide Educational Grants to teachers, which offer opportunities to expand our school programming and classroom learning, with the goal of enhancing learning and encouraging innovation. Thanks to our community's generous donations, we are able to offer annual grants that make a big impact for our students. Congratulations to the recipients of this year's grants: first grade team Mrs. Hempe and Mrs. Napolitano are receiving a set of Osmo bundles that will increase students' fluency towards their learning targets. The third and fourth grade teams, thanks to Brianne Willix, Amanda Burt, and Sonja Nasiopulos, are receiving printed dictionaries to help students with their vocabulary learning targets while developing necessary, hands on skills. Matt Wdowiarz's middle school classroom is receiving materials to develop a bioactive enclosure for their classroom pet, which has been a subject of study and a valuable addition to the students' daily experience for years. Finally, all students will benefit from the Arts/Music teacher Bob Siemienkowicz's request for cabinet lighting in their art and project display cabinets, to better highlight and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment for our students' work! Congratulations to all grant recipients and thank you for the thoughtful planning and research that went into these requests.

Project Elf

WEF and PTO have connected with a local nonprofit organization called Kindness Matters at Emerson Elementary School. They invited our district to be part of their holiday gift giving program, Project Elf. Families in financial hardship are invited to submit a gift wishlist (3 needs and 4 wishes) for each student (and siblings) and Kindness Matters requests donations from folks in our community to meet these requests.

This program’s success rests solely in the kindness and generosity of the community. If you would love to donate an item(s) or sponsor a child in need, please email or text/call Debbie at Our goal is to have each child receive all 3 "needs" and at least two of their "wishes" to brighten their holiday season! We will be sending out wishlists the first week of November. We ask for new, unwrapped donations. Learn more about our winter giving campaign.

Winter Gear Exchange

At or before our Giving Tuesday 11/30 blood drive event, bring in those snowpants, coats and boots your family has outgrown. We are planning a winter gear exchange to let all families bring in stuff that no longer fits (good condition snow pants, boots, hats/gloves and coats) and take away stuff that does! All D34 families are welcome and you do not have to donate to receive. You can also send your donations to the Winfield District 34 offices anytime before 11/30.

"Winfield To-Go" is now "Winfield Local" Facebook group

Our Winfield To-Go group has expanded to offer more information about community events, restaurants, and local businesses. Join the group at and please share! Thanks to volunteer Emily Gomez for her great graphic design!

Thanks to the support of our community, WEF and PTO were successfully able to provide funding to launch Winfield Studios, podcast and green screen spaces that have provided innovate and unique learning opportunities for our students. THANK YOU for making a difference!
